So I will be graduating this year with about $80,000 in student loan debt including Staffords. I am planning on taking 1 or 2 years living at home working 1 full time and 1 part time job. My father will also contribute a bit. I intend on sending most of my money straight to my loans. So my question is will I be fined for paying off Sallie Mae loans too soon. I heard rumors of this, but can't find anything definite. Does this sound like a good plan? Also, would it be better to pay off the Staffords, Smart Op...

What legislation? I have not seen anything introduced in Congress that will limit or prohibit private student lender practice. The best legislation on the table is the Private Student Loan Debt Swap Act which was introduced in 2009 by Sen. Sherrod Brown. However, Congress has not moved on this legislation because of the power of the Sallie Mae lobby and slimy Congressman like Representative Paul Kanjorski of Luzerne County, PA....
