I had been faithfully paying my loan for several years even if it was a useless amout on the income sensitive plan. Last year we fell on very hard times (my husband works for chrysler, need I say more) and we were falling behind on everything and our home was in forclosure. Botttom line...I was going to save my home for my family and sallie-mae be damned. Thats just the facts. We filed ch.7 and got rid of some debt and fortunately were able to get the house out of foreclosure. I was well aware that my student loans were not dischargable however my attorney told me that at least the ch 7 would buy me some time to get us back on our feet. I am all out of forbearance time but he said the bankruptcy would put the loan back into forbearance for up to 5 years. Literally the day after my discharge, Sallie-mae started with the abusive and threatening calls again! They told me that my attorney lied to me and they were going to take what ever they could to get paid. They call me about 6-8 time a day. Does anyone know what the truth here is? Did my attorney screw up or are these just more typical Sallie-mae scare tactics?

You might want to consult with your attorney again. Your attorney should be able to provide you with the ammo you need to fight Sallie Mae on this. Please keep up posted with any information that might help others.
